Chef Tara Walker

Chef Tara Walker's culinary passion was kindled in a family where everyone participated in meal preparations, from special breakfasts for Mother’s Day to dinners on Father’s Day. Her formal culinary education began when she enrolled at the Art Institute of Orange County. There, she excelled academically, consistently earning a place on the President’s Honor Roll, engaging in culinary competitions, and dedicating long hours to her studies. She holds an associate degree in baking and pastry and a bachelor’s degree in hospitality. Her practical experience ranges from bakery work to a role as a pastry chef in San Clemente, California and refining her skills at a Modern Asian Fusion restaurant in Costa Mesa.

Tara was immediately drawn to Harmons for its impressive selection and store presentation, leading her to start as a sales and event coordinator before taking on her dream role in the cooking school. Her spare time is filled with running, including competing in the St. George Marathon, and cherished moments with her family.

As a culinary instructor specializing in seafood and baking, Tara appreciates the ongoing learning her career provides—whether preparing new classes or engaging with local producers. Her teaching philosophy focuses on making culinary arts approachable and enjoyable, aiming to ignite her students' passion for cooking. Tara's commitment extends beyond the kitchen as she enjoys exploring the culinary landscape, continuously integrating new techniques and flavors into her teaching, fostering a dynamic and inspiring learning environment.
