The 'pearl of the Antilles'; Cuba has been a cultural powerhouse and known as a land of paradise. Americans once described Cuba as 700 miles of playground. Opulent hotels, new Ford automobiles, Yacht clubs and state-of-the-art infrastructure once scattered the capital of Havana in the 1950's. These days, you can't book a flight to Havana and so we will bring the vibrancy to you. Cubanos (or a cuban sandwich) is a pressed, salty pork sandwich with tangy mustard and melty Swiss cheese. Chef Mark will walk you through marinating Pork, Chicken, and Beef Souvlaki and roasting them on a skewer with vegetables and making pita bread from scratch. Chef Mark will demonstrate how simple it is to make pasta dough with a few simple pantry ingredients and empower you to make your own from home anytime!</p> <p>Our focus in this class will be on preparing Shrimp in two ways: The first preparation will be "Fra Diavolo", shrimp cooked in a spicy tomato sauce made with red pepper flakes, white wine, and fresh herbs. For the second preparation, you will learn how to make Scampi, a bright combination of butter, garlic, white wine, lemon, and parsley.
